U.S. Shipping Update
Posted: October 29, 2025
Due to high demand, we’re now accepting U.S. pre-orders on a case-by-case basis for customers who are comfortable covering any import duties or brokerage fees.
Automatic checkout for U.S. orders remains suspended because of these recent import changes.
If you’d like to place a pre-order, please contact us with your shipping address and the products you’re interested in, and we’ll provide a quote at base shipping cost. This quote does not include any of the import fees or additional charges, which will be sent directly by UPS after shipping.
Please note: All U.S. pre-orders are final sale. Refunds or returns are not available due to additional costs and import considerations.
Please see the updates below for more information and an example of fees that may be expected.
Alternatively, if you’d like to be notified when full U.S. shipping resumes, we can add you to our email update list for timely updates.
Canada Post Update
Posted: October 14, 2025
Canada Post service has partially resumed, which means we can once again ship Canadian and international (non-U.S.) orders through postal delivery.
That said, operations are still affected by ongoing rotational strikes, so delays are expected while mail service gradually returns to normal.
UPS shipping is still available upon request, though they don’t deliver to P.O. boxes or certain rural locations. If you’d like a quote for UPS shipping or have any questions, we’re happy to help!
U.S. shipments remain on hold for now due to ongoing import fee issues (please see details below) — we’ll post an update as soon as that situation improves.
U.S. Shipping Update
Posted: October 6, 2025
We want to let our U.S. customers know about an issue regarding the new import changes. So far, fees at the U.S. border have become extremely unpredictable. Even with correct USMCA paperwork, some customers have been charged anywhere from $60 to over $350 USD in import fees.
Because of this, we have made the decision to pause shipments to the U.S. until the situation stabilizes.
For customers with current pre-orders, we are offering three options:
-
Cancel for a full refund – we’ll process this as soon as possible.
-
Hold your order – we’ll keep it secured until U.S. shipping becomes consistent.
-
Proceed with shipping (at your own risk) – if you choose to ship despite the uncertainty, all import fees are the customer’s responsibility. Shipments refused at delivery or for unpaid fees are considered abandoned and are not eligible for a refund, since the costs to recover them are higher than the order’s value.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these challenges.
Canada Post Strike Update
Posted: October 6, 2025
Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike, we are pausing all international shipments (outside of Canada) at this time.
For Canadian shipments, we are still able to fulfill pre-orders using UPS. Please note that UPS does not deliver to P.O. boxes and may not deliver to some rural locations. If you’re unsure whether your address is eligible for UPS delivery or have any questions, please contact us and we’ll help you find the best solution.
Once the strike is resolved, we will resume normal shipping and provide another update.
U.S. Shipping Update
Posted: August 23, 2025
With the recent changes to U.S. import rules, we’ll now be shipping all U.S. orders via UPS Worldwide Expedited. Please ensure you choose this option at checkout and not Canada Post. This service uses a Pre-Entry DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid) process to make things smoother and more transparent for our customers.
Here’s how it works:
-
Once your order ships, UPS will send you an email with a secure payment link.
-
You’ll be able to pay any applicable U.S. duties/taxes online before your package clears U.S. Customs.
-
After payment, UPS will release your order for delivery.
Why this method?
-
Faster customs clearance.
-
No surprise brokerage fees at delivery.
-
Clear, upfront costs with easy online payment.
This ensures you get your order as quickly and smoothly as possible. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us before placing your order. Please read the de minimis update below to learn how your order will be affected and what fees will be applied.
End of U.S. De Minimis Exemption
Posted: August 5, 2025
As of August 29, 2025, new U.S. customs regulations will require all shipments entering the United States to undergo formal customs processing regardless of shipment value. This means that the previous exemption for low-value orders (known as the de minimis exemption) will no longer apply.
This change will impact how our U.S. customers receive shipments from us and other international businesses, especially with regard to customs fees, processing times, and clearance procedures.
We are actively reviewing our options to ensure continued, reliable service — including the possibility of using a trusted wholesaler who will stock and ship our products domestically within the United States.
What This Means for You
-
All U.S. orders, no matter the size and value, will face full customs clearance and associated duties/fees.
-
Delays at the border may occur while carriers or customs officials process shipments under the new policy.
-
We’re working to minimize the impact and keep you informed every step of the way.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What changed with the de minimis exemption?
The U.S. previously allowed goods valued under $800 USD to be imported without duties or formal customs clearance under Section 321 (de minimis). As of August 29, 2025, the U.S. will restrict this exemption for shipments from Canada and abroad, meaning all shipments will now require formal customs entry and will be subject to import duties or taxes.
Will I have to pay import duties now?
Yes. All international shipments entering the U.S. will be affected by the policy change and will be subject to duties and/or additional fees determined at the border. We will notify you of any updates as we determine how your orders will be treated going forward. Shipping carriers may also enforce their own fees in response to this situation.
So far, the duty fees will be applied as follows:
- Ad valorem rates under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), currently at 35% for Canadian products; or
-
Flat-rate duties ranging from $80 to $200 USD per item, depending on the country of origin’s tariff bracket. As Canada is currently at 35%, the higher end of the range may apply ($200 USD). This option is temporary and is expected to expire six months after implementation.

Is Steadfast Forestry Products USMCA eligible and safe from this change?
Unfortunately, no. We manufacture all our products in Canada and believe they are eligible under USMCA, which usually allows duty-free trade between Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. However, the de minimis exemption is a separate U.S. customs administrative rule. USMCA can eliminate tariffs on qualifying goods, but it does not exempt shipments from customs duties and fees when the U.S. removes the de minimis exemption. The new U.S. rules require formal customs entry and possible fees on all commercial shipments, including low-value ones from Canada.
Will shipping take longer?
Shipments may face additional processing time at the U.S. border under the new rules. We're working with our carriers and trade advisors to streamline this and keep delays to a minimum where possible.
What can I do as a customer?
-
Stay informed: U.S. import rules have changed quickly and significantly. We encourage you to do your own research to understand how these changes will affect your order. (Helpful links provided below).
-
Check your email after ordering — we’ll alert you if anything changes or if your order requires extra documentation or steps.
-
Ensure your shipping address and phone number are correct to minimize further delays, additional fees, or package rejection.
-
Expect potential duties and delays as packages are processed through customs, particularly while the new systems are being implemented.
-
Contact us if you are asked for additional paperwork or clarifications, or if you have other questions or concerns.
-
Consider waiting: If you're unsure or concerned about potential import costs, you may wish to delay your purchase until the situation becomes clearer or a more stable trade arrangement is reached between the U.S. and Canada.
What if I refuse to pay import duties or fees when my order arrives in the U.S.?
At checkout, all customers are required to check a box stating they have read and agree to our store policies. These policies clearly state that any customs duties, taxes, or import-related fees are the buyer’s responsibility.
If you refuse to pay the required duties or fees and your order is returned to us, original shipping charges will not be refunded, and you may also be responsible for return shipping, return customs, and/or restocking fees. If the order is not returned to us and/or destroyed, no refund will be issued.
We strongly encourage all U.S. customers to review our policies carefully before placing an order, which you can find here. We're happy to answer any questions before you buy.
What if my package is lost, stolen, or damaged in transit?
Once your order leaves our facility, it is in the hands of the carrier and subject to international transit conditions — including customs inspections. To better protect our customers, we are now fully insuring all shipments. As a result, shipping rates will increase slightly to reflect this added coverage.

If your package is lost, stolen, or arrives damaged, please contact us immediately. We will file a claim on your behalf with the insurance company.
Claims must be submitted within 10 days of the scheduled delivery date. Please monitor your tracking information closely and reach out to us right away if something seems off.
We cannot guarantee a successful outcome for claims submitted after the 10-day window. We are not liable for packages that are unclaimed or unrecoverable for whatever reason.
We’re Monitoring the Situation
We're a small, Canadian-based manufacturer proud to serve our U.S. customers. These new rules are outside our control, but we’re doing everything we can to ensure your orders continue arriving safely and affordably.
We’ll continue updating this page as new guidance becomes available.
